Paper Whoville


 Description:

In this lesson, we made our own "Whoville" from different strips of paper. We made 3 patterns of 3 different strips of paper and then we glued the pieces down to make our Whoville. We were shown examples of different folds and rolls to create our own unique 3D Whoville.

Extension Activity:

Have students turn their 3D Whoville into a creative writing piece that brings their town to life. Students write a short story about what happens in their Whoville. They should include: a main character, a setting description, an event or problem, and a solution.

 Description: I created a footprint using three mediums: construction paper, colored pencil, and markers. This footprint shows my life and interests. On the top left, is my family which includes my dad, mom, and two older brothers. Below that, is a coffee cup because I love coffee and I am also a barista. Seasons Project

Description: In this lesson, we learned about the four seasons and defining characteristics of each. Then, we got a piece of white construction paper and folded it in half to create two sides. We then drew a tree on each half of the paper and picked two seasons to create. We included two different characteristics for each season. We drew and colored using two different mediums. After we used a ruler and marked every inch on the paper and labeled the marks. We took another piece of construction paper and folded it into an accordion. When we finished folding the paper, we cut the paper we drew our seasons on into the inch strips. We then took each strip and glued it to the folded paper going every other how we marked it. Last, we glued our project to a piece of construction paper for the background. The Dot

  Description: In class, we read the story The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. After reading the story, we got to create our own dot using a coffee filter. We used many different materials such as crayon, marker, oil pastels, and water color paint. Using a white crayon, I wrote smile in the center of my dot and after painting over it, it became visible. Extension Activity: Using this dot activity, students can write some words of motivation on their coffee filter. After completing the project, they can share their dot with someone in their class. This helps students build friendships and create a positive environment. This activity ties in with the book because it inspires others and promotes confidence and creativity.
